On April 30, 1920, The Studebaker Corporation built its first automobile in South Bend. Prior to this date, the South Bend plant built horse-drawn equipment while automobile production took place at Studebaker’s Detroit facilities. Built in the ‘Bend: A Studebaker Centenary celebrates this anniversary with a look at the company’s transition to automobiles and its new automobile factory from 100 years ago.
