The Great Race

Join us for a race like no other! The Great Race is the world’s premiere old car rally, and the Studebaker National Museum and The History Museum will serve as a lunch checkpoint for the more than 120 vintage automobiles and their teams as a part of the Race. Beginning with a Studebaker Hawk at 12:50pm, announcers will greet every car as it arrives at the Museum and share a little bit about the car and the driver/navigator team.

Racers will stop at the Museum checkpoint and leave in the space of three hours as they journey across the country in a competitive controlled-speed endurance competition for a chance at a $150,000 prize pool.  All cars involved must be 1974 or older.  This year’s race treks from Warwick, Rhode Island, to Fargo, North Dakota.

Visitor Museum Admission

For those wishing to visit the Museums this day, we will only be offering Campus admission rates. Those are $16 for adults, $13 for seniors, and $9 for students aged 6-17. Service animals only inside the Museum Buildings please.

Visitor Food

For visitors looking for bite to eat during The Great Race, Tattoo Taco and Bonnie Doon will have food and ice cream available for purchase.

Visitor Parking

Due to the parking needed for racers, the parking situation is a little different than usual at the Museums. See the map for details about visitor parking. We will have signs posted around the Museums to help you navigate to an open parking lot.
