From Whippets to Clippers to Larks: The Story of D. D. Gross Motor Sales

At eighteen years old, Dan Gross started D. D. Gross Motor Sales in Moline, Ohio (Toledo area).  In time, his wife, Muriel along with his brothers Ted, Frank and Chuck joined him in running this family business.

The business began in 1918, selling Willys Overland automobiles and followed with Packard Motor Cars in 1940.  In 1957, D. D. Gross Motor Sales began selling Studebakers and continued with this brand until production ceased in 1966.  The business remained open until 1972.

Scott Gross will share an informative and entertaining overview of the business – from Willys to Packard and ending with an emphasis on the Studebaker years.  Using photographs, “automobilia”, and many first-hand stories from past employees and customers, Scott will be sure to entertain and educate.
